The customer ID is the 10-digit number that identifies your Google Ads account. We show you where to find it in under a minute.
The Google Ads customer ID (also called Customer ID or Account ID) is a unique 10-digit number that identifies your advertising account. It looks like this: 123-456-7890, and it's the key piece of information any agency, freelancer or consultant will ask you for in order to manage your campaigns.
In this guide we explain where to find it, step by step, in under a minute.
What is the Google Ads customer ID?
It's the unique identifier Google assigns to every Google Ads account the moment it's created. It's used to:
- Let an agency or external manager send you a linking request from their manager account (MCC).
- Link Google Ads with other Google products, like Analytics, Merchant Center or Business Profile.
- Identify your account to Google Ads support when you need to resolve an issue.
It's important not to confuse it with the conversion ID, the Google Analytics property ID or the campaign ID: those are different things.
Step 1: Sign in to Google Ads
Go to https://ads.google.com and sign in with the Google email associated with the advertising account. If you handle several accounts with the same email, make sure you're inside the right one.
Step 2: Look at the top-right corner
Once inside the interface, look to the top-right corner of the screen. You'll see your profile photo and, next to it, the account name along with the 10-digit ID in the format XXX-XXX-XXXX. That number is your customer ID.
Step 3: Check it from your profile photo
If you don't see it directly, click your profile photo. A menu will drop down showing the account name and, below it, the customer ID. If you have several accounts linked to the same Google profile, you'll also see the full list with their respective IDs.
Step 4: Copy the whole number
Copy it with or without hyphens (either format is valid). If you're going to use it in the Google Ads API, you'll need to enter it without hyphens (1234567890), but to share it with an agency or manager, just copy the number exactly as it appears.
Other ways to find your customer ID
If you can't get into the account right now, you can also locate your ID in these places:
- Previous Google Ads emails: any notification, billing or campaign-summary email Google has sent you includes the ID in the header or the body.
- Invoices and billing statements: payment receipts always carry the associated ID.
- Payments profile: inside Google Ads, go to the Billing icon and then to Payments profiles. There you'll see all the profiles associated with the account along with their IDs.
And if you manage a manager account (MCC)?
If your account is a manager type (Manager Account or MCC), the customer ID appears the same way in the top-right corner. Keep in mind that each sub-account within the MCC has its own independent ID, so if you need to share the ID of a specific operating account, first go into that sub-account and then copy the number shown at the top right.
Security tips when sharing your ID
The customer ID isn't a password, and sharing it doesn't give anyone access to your account. Still, it's worth following a few best practices:
- Share it only with trusted people or agencies.
- Never send passwords, recovery codes or billing details along with the ID. The number alone is enough for them to send you the linking request.
- When you get the invitation, check that the sender is the right one before approving it from Admin > Access and security > Administrators.
- If at some point you want to revoke access, you can do it from that same section, without needing to change the password or anything like that.
Frequently asked questions
Are "Account ID" and "Customer ID" the same thing? Yes. Google officially uses the term Customer ID, but a lot of people call it Account ID. Both names refer to the same 10-digit number.
Does the ID change over time? No. Once assigned, the customer ID is permanent and stays with the account for its entire life.
Can I find the ID without signing in? Yes, by checking old Google Ads emails or previous invoices. Any official Google Ads communication includes it.
What if I just created the account? Newly generated IDs can take a few minutes to register in the system. If you don't see it right away, wait a moment and refresh the page.
With your ID in hand, linking your account to an agency or connecting Google Ads with other Google tools is a matter of minutes.
